“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.”
– C. S. Lewis
And like I say, “You must stay drunk on writing reading, so reality cannot destroy you.”
– Ray Bradbury Madame Zenista.

Books became my best Friends, when I most needed them. I would be so lost without them, literally!
Books are marvelous friends. Coincidentally I listened to Pride and Prejudice on audio last night when I couldn’t sleep – I see it’s on top of the pile in your picture 😀

Oh how wonderful!
Yes- like many of us, I love the book and the movie even (BBC version with Colin Firth). But I must try the audiobook 😊.
Thanks for stopping by.
I am also thankful for my virtual ‘friends’ like yourself. ❤️

I can’t agree more and like your adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s words – I could not imagine living without being surrounded by books and I feel quite bereft when I finish a superb novel and haven’t yet started a new one! All reading is a wonderfully immersive escape from reality to some degree.

I’ve read some books that were so personal that I felt that I was sitting at my kitchen table with a cup of hot tea in hand while chatting with an old friend (the author). Other times I have read books so exquisite that I felt like a friend was confiding in me the most personal of secrets. I’ve read books in which I’ve wanted to reach into the pages and embrace the protagonist just to let that person know they were heard, acknowledged and validated but more importantly that they were not alone. I too cannot imagine a world without books. It would feel as if my inner receptor had been disconnected from the universe’s soul.
